I hope I haven’t lost any readers from not posting for so long. I do have some good news. After a lot of thought, I have decided to open an etsy shop. I hope in the future I can open a dedicated website but until I build up enough inventory, I will have to stick with this more economically effective solution.  Most of the items I’ll be selling are things I love and know other artists would love too. Please check out my listings and buy something if it strikes your fancy.

Just celebrated a special occasion. Unfortunately, they’re sneaking up all too often these days. I think this is the year I’m going to start lying about my age… I think I can pull off 39. Who’s going to know? Ha! Anyway, I bought myself a beautiful gift at the Art & Soul vendor sale. This is a beautiful painting by the very talented Stephanie Lee. I love the colors, the way she finished it with wax, and the composition. It’s so lovely! And I deserve it.

This painting can hang either portrait- or landscape-wise. Because the area above my sink is such a weird space, I have been searching three years for the perfect artwork to hang here. I am so happy I finally found it.

It could probably be bigger but I think it works… I didn’t want something that over took the whole area. What do you think?

This weekend is the JouJou Workshop with the wonderfully gifted Deryn Mentock. It is going to be such a great time. We still have some spots open AND there is still time to register. Let me know if you can make it and we’ll get all the details worked out ASAP!

My mom and I hit a really cool antique store today. She bought me a lovely early birthday gift. Isn’t this the most awesome vintage beauty parlor collectible you’ve ever seen?! It has a stainless steel top. One drawer on the bottom and two sectioned drawers on each side. It has the cutest little round knobs and the original paint. I love it!

I decided to go to Molly Mo’s Summer Antique Faire yesterday. I got one really cool item and a few other things. Afterwards, I wanted to go to IKEA, so I made a stop at Monticello Antique Marketplace. I loved their garden section and I found some junky little things that I couldn’t pass up. I should have driven up to the Barn House sale but by the time I got done wandering around IKEA, I was exhausted so I headed home.

This very cool, three and a half feet, tiered basket is my best find of the day.

Here’s a new blog I just found that I need to add to my blog list: Shop Vintage Portland. Always on the lookout for junk jewelry, wooden carved hands (like from old statues), paper ephemera, little leather coin purses, tiny shakers & perfume bottles, gritty found objects, discarded keys, architectural bits, well-loved dolls, weathered garden art, anything rusty and old that strikes my fancy when I see it. I guess I could go on and on… Hey, does anyone know what those game cards are called–you know, the ones that have a letter in the corner and a picture in the center. Here’s a link to Lisa Kaus’ gridlocked piece (on the far right side) that has the R card with the little daisies in the center. For the life of me, I can’t find them on eBay at all.

Speaking of vintage, if you’re into post-modern stuff check out this website. I would love to own a Rummer.

Out of nowhere, Steve announced he must make a trip home. Where is home? Cody. Cody… as in Wyoming. He told me he needed to meet with someone about his grandfather’s care but I’m not really sure that’s the whole story. I really think it’s more related to his emotional state at the moment. Losing Bull last week hit Steve hard and he’s realizing his grandfather is getting older too. Which leads me to believe there’s more to it than he’s letting on.

At first he wanted to go for a weekend. Oh, my gosh… airfare was outrageous! In order to get a decent deal, it would take as much time traveling as it would to drive there. And going all that way for one weekend didn’t make any sense to me. All that expense for maybe 18 hours time. He asked me if I wanted to go with him… of course I do! But I told him that if he put it off a week, maybe we could take a three-day weekend for the 4^th of July. But then, who would take care of the dogs? So many things working against this idea but we finally figured out the details.

We’re going drive. We’re going to take the dogs. We’re going to leave on Wednesday and drive half-way. We’ll drive the rest of the way on Thursday and while Steve hangs out with his grandfather, I will probably hang out with Steve’s girl-relatives, Brenda and Melissa. We’ll also get to visit with some of Steve’s friends who are really nice, Tascha and Jason. The 4^th of July is a big day in Cody. We’ll watch the parade, have coffee, shop, eat, and enjoy the festivities of the holiday, which probably includes fireworks… it is Wyoming, after all. Saturday, we’ll head up to Laurel and spend the day with my cousin Nikki & her family and my Aunt Dorothy. Then early, early Sunday, we’ll leave for home.

We haven’t been to Cody in a long time. I am looking forward to this road-trip. It’ll be nice to get out of town. Maybe we can hit some antique/junk/thrift stores on the way!
